A renowned music cafe established in 1950, representing Shinjuku. However, the 'music cafe' aspect is merely a facade, as the interior is bustling and most patrons don't pay attention to the music. Apparently, the staff used to select the music, but they no longer do. The establishment itself seems to have abandoned its music cafe identity. I ordered a pizza toast, which was unremarkable in taste, slow in service, but priced like a premium item. The price is essentially for the location, being in a prime spot in Shinjuku. One visit is enough. If I could turn back time, I wouldn't go.
A retro coffee shop located in the basement. The interior is spacious, making it a rare haven for a break in Shinjuku. I ordered the tuna and egg sandwich set. Hmm, it was quite filling, but I couldn't tell if it was warm or cold, and the taste was just okay. The coffee was also a mini size. The iced coffee latte was a bit bland? The price was typical for Shinjuku. The staff didn't seem very energetic either. I've heard from acquaintances that it used to be better, so I'm disappointed with the current state. Cash only.
A coffee shop pilgrimage. One of the remaining legendary shops. Coffee shops, this is what they're all about. Coffee and gateau chocolat, time stands still. Shinjuku 3-chome, this is Shinjuku 3-chome. Closing my eyes, I feel a sense of time stopping. The gateau chocolat, with grapes, is so good. The sweetness, different from chocolate, is impactful. I wash it down with black coffee, which cuts through it nicely. I've discovered an amazing set combination. A day off for a coffee shop visit. I've had a wonderful experience. Deep breath, I inhaled deeper than usual.
It's a lovely shop. The coffee is very delicious. I couldn't stay long due to personal reasons, but next time I'd like to enjoy the atmosphere and take my time with the coffee. Please note that on weekends and holidays, the food menu is limited to amber (sweets are available). Payment is cash only. It's a wonderful place, so I'd like to go again.
This is an underground palace located in Shinjuku Sanchome. The first floor is not in use, but when you descend the narrow stairs to the basement, you'll be amazed by the expansive space. The pizza toast was ordinary, so perhaps this is a place to enjoy the retro atmosphere. The chairs are also cramped.
