【December 2023】 After dinner in Shibuya, I stopped by "Sukusuku." First, I bought a pound cake from "Apple & Roses Shibuya" for dessert later that night. I was drawn to the cute sign of this bakery and bought some bread for breakfast the next day. It was around 8 pm, so there weren't many options left, but I chose: - Cream Bread (¥280) - Berry Maple Cream Cheese (¥420) Later, I researched "Sanchino" and found out it's a rice flour bakery. Apparently, "Sanchino" means something like "So-and-so's" or "From such-and-such a place." I ate the bread before I looked it up, so I didn't realize it was rice flour. Both breads were delicious, with great flavor, and I didn't feel like anything was missing. The "Cream Bread" had a delicate cream and a soft, flavorful dough, which was a perfect balance. The "Berry Maple Cream Cheese" had an amazing cheese aroma and texture, and the berries and maple went well with it. This was truly delicious. Both were small in size, but they were very satisfying. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Surrounded by sweet treat booths, this bakery seems to lean towards the sweet side. I bought some for lunch. The cheese curry was average, the fresh cream bread was sweet but still tasty, and the chocolate croissant was the hit of the day! Delicious!

This rice flour bread is delicious. Rice flour breads and pastries often lack aroma and leave me feeling unsatisfied, but this bread is delicious. The croissant is incredibly buttery. I usually buy the same things, but this time I bought a croissant with sausage. The sausage was crispy and flavorful! The croissant was also delicious, so the combination was twice as good. I think the price is also reasonable.

This bakery offers delicious, high-quality rice flour-based bread with a chewy texture. **Ingredients** While the store doesn't display ingredient lists for anything other than their plain bread, I was able to ask the staff and they showed me a document outlining the general ingredients and cost ratios (I took a picture, but I'll only post a portion for privacy). Based on what I saw, they don't seem to use margarine or shortening, and there are very few additives or chemical ingredients. The only additives I saw were enzymes in the plain bread and possibly emulsifiers in the cheese bread (using Meiji's process cheese). However, it's important to note that the bread generally contains wheat gluten, so it's not suitable for those seeking gluten-free options. **Information Disclosure** I appreciate that they were willing to provide information about the ingredients when asked. I've had experiences at other bakeries where they said they didn't know because the bread was made in a factory, or they seemed reluctant to answer. I believe it's the responsibility of manufacturers and sellers to be transparent about what they produce, especially food. It's something that should be taken for granted. I remember hearing similar sentiments from Torikoshi, the president of Sagamiya Foods. **Staff** I've never had a particularly positive experience with the staff. Their service is okay, but not great. Other reviewers have mentioned similar experiences. While not a requirement for good service, I wish they would be more positive and engaging. **Food Review** #Sanchino Croissant The croissant has a good balance of fluffiness and chewiness, with a subtle buttery flavor and richness. It's not as hard as a wheat croissant, and overall, I'm very satisfied. It's not heavy or overly rich, and it went down smoothly. It seems like they don't use margarine or shortening. #Shokupan (Plain Bread) The crust is soft and fluffy, and the inside has a chewy, springy texture. In fact, the overall chewiness is quite strong. Because it's made with rice flour, it's softer than wheat bread, which I personally find easier to chew and digest. It's even better with jam or butter. They use rice oil and seem to avoid margarine and shortening. #Choco Cro The chocolate is sweet but not overly rich. The bread is made with the same dough as the plain bread, so it's chewy and moist. Delicious. They only use butter, just like the plain croissant. #Cream Bread The bread has a strong, chewy texture, and the custard has a standard flavor and texture. The bread itself is light, and there's no sense of heavy oil or sugar. #Tofu Shokupan (Tofu Bread) Bake in the oven. Preheat to 150°C (300°F) and bake for 5 minutes. The crust is crispy, and the inside is chewy. You can faintly taste the tofu's soft texture. #Cheese Bread The bread is chewy with a subtle sweetness. There's a good amount of cheese (Meiji's process cheese). It's very satisfying. **Notes** By the way, there used to be a bakery called Takewaka Bakery in the Ikebukuro area, which was associated with this bakery. However, it's closed now, and it's been replaced by Charyo Bakery (probably unrelated to Sanchino). They also serve rice flour bread, so if you're in the area, check it out. I personally love their rice flour bread, so I'll keep coming back. I hope they don't close like Takewaka and continue to thrive. **Addendum (2023/09/12)** I developed a wheat allergy, so I can't eat their bread anymore. T_T

This bakery is located on the first floor of Shibuya Scramble Square, in the area with various sweets shops. I visited on a weekend evening. I often come here but had never bought bread before, so I decided to try it. I couldn't eat it on the same day due to my schedule, so I bought it for breakfast the next morning. There were other breads I wanted to try, but they didn't seem to last long, so I chose the "Mochi Oimo Pan" (Chewy Sweet Potato Bread). They have various breads, including shokupan (Japanese milk bread), baguettes, sweet breads like cream bread and anpan (red bean bread), and savory breads like panini. Overall, the impression was that they mainly offer simple breads. The "Mochi Oimo Pan" was indeed chewy, with a dense, springy texture that I personally enjoy. It had a good amount of sweet potato. It was delicious with a gentle sweetness and a hint of saltiness. I'm curious to try other chewy breads as well.
