My colleague told me about a great udon restaurant serving delicious curry udon, so I went there that day! Located in the basement 2nd floor of the Otemachi Building, directly connected to Otemachi Station, is the popular udon restaurant, Norabo, nestled in a traditional food court. The menu was full of tempting options, but I went straight for the curry udon. It was a gentle, sweet and rich flavor with a delicious broth. Although there was almost no spice, there was a subtle hint of black pepper, creating a perfectly balanced taste. The thinly sliced pork belly and green onions added a nice texture and flavor. Incidentally, the curry udon was very popular and sold out by 1:20 PM. If you want to try the curry udon, I recommend going early! ▽--------------------------▽ ○Restaurant Name: Sanuki Udon Norabo, Otemachi Branch ○Tabelog Rating: 3.36 (as of June 27, 2024) ○4 minutes walk from Otemachi Station, directly connected ○Budget: ¥2,000 per person ○Address: B2F, Otemachi Building, 1-6-1 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo ○Business Hours: [Mon-Fri] 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM / 5:00 PM - 9:30 PM ※Closed: Weekends and holidays ※Cash or PayPay payment accepted △--------------------------△ 【Reservations】 Reservations not accepted 【Recommended Usage】 Coworkers, friends, solo 【Crowds】 On Thursday at 1:10 PM, the restaurant was full and there was a line of 3 people, but I was able to get a table after waiting for about 8 minutes. 【Order】 ◆Curry Udon (Medium) ¥970 ◆Egg Tempura ¥150

This udon shop is a regular spot for my lunch. This time, I ordered the 'tori oroshi bukkake,' which is available after 1 p.m. The udon here has a wonderful wheat aroma and good chewiness, exactly the kind of noodles I love. It comes with three chicken tempura pieces, making it a very filling meal. It's no surprise that a large portion costs over 1,000 yen. However, the tempura wasn't fried perfectly. Some of the batter was still raw inside. Even with that drawback, it's still a fantastic udon. It's always crowded, so it's not ideal for those in a hurry. They only accept cash and PayPay for lunch, no debit cards.

Located on the west side of the basement second floor of the Otemachi Building. I left the office at 11:30 am and arrived at the store around 11:40 am, but there were already about 20 people in line. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I was able to enter. There were about 16 counter seats and 10 tables. When it comes to udon, it's a completely different dish depending on whether you're in Kanto, Kansai, Sanuki, or even Hakata, but this one is Sanuki, so it's a sure bet. The basic "kake" (hot broth with udon) starts at 550 yen. The "Today's Set Meal" with a choice of udon comes with chicken tempura and pork rice bowl for 980 yen. I chose the "Kama-tama Nama Shoyu Udon" (udon with raw egg and soy sauce) and ordered a medium size for an extra 100 yen. It arrived in about 5 minutes. The Kama-tama is the type where you mix it yourself. On top, there was thinly sliced bonito flakes, or was it "hanakatsuo"? The udon is a living thing, so I took a few pictures and then poured in two rounds of raw soy sauce and mixed it thoroughly. When I slurped the piping hot noodles, they were chewy and delicious, as expected of Sanuki udon. The ginger was stronger than I expected. As I ate, the noodles became more and more sticky, changing the texture, which was interesting. The rice bowl had braised pork belly and chicken tempura. The chicken tempura was made with breast meat and was light. It was better balanced when eaten with the udon. The side dishes were a slice of kamaboko (fish cake) and pickles. The pickles were almost forgotten because they were hidden behind the udon. The rice bowl was a bit too much with the medium size udon. Anyway, I was full. They accept PayPay.

Payment is made at the counter after your meal. During lunchtime, only cash or PayPay is accepted. I paid with PayPay. Kake udon (hot noodles, hot broth) - ¥550 (tax included) I was feeling a bit bloated, so I stopped by for a light lunch of udon. There was a bit of a wait, but the turnover is quick, so I was seated soon. The broth had a hint of bonito flakes and ginger, and the udon was chewy and piping hot. It was delicious.

I had the "Anpan Zosui Udon" (sweet bean paste soup with udon noodles). They also have Kamaage Udon (hot spring water udon), Marugame-yaki (grilled skewers), and more. Everything was delicious, and I overate! The staff were all smiling and efficient, making the food, service, and atmosphere all top-notch. It was a very satisfying experience.
