I visited around 5 PM on a weekend. I was able to enter and purchase right away. The popular mango pudding was sold out, so I couldn't buy it. This time, I ordered the Strawberry Shortcake (¥1080) and the Strawberry Custard Tart (¥940). The cakes were beautifully packaged, and the box itself had a luxurious hotel feel. The cakes were definitely sweet, but the sweetness was refined. The custard was thick and heavy. Overall, the cakes were very satisfying. I'll definitely try to get the mango pudding next time. Thank you for the delicious meal.
Mango Pudding I was disappointed when the cake shop I wanted to go to was completely sold out. I had some delicious mochi inari at Marunouchi Building B1F, but… My craving for sweets wouldn’t go away… I decided to go to "The Peninsula Boutique and Cafe", which was on my list of places to visit. It’s a place where you can eat in, but when I arrived at 4:35 PM… I had other things to do later, so I bought their famous mango pudding to take out. I savored it slowly at night, and it was incredibly rich and delicious!! It looked small, but the richness made it completely satisfying ♡ The mango pudding’s glass container is so cute, I couldn’t throw it away and washed it to keep it (lol). When will I use it…? It’s too small to be a glass… I’ll use it for jelly, bavarois, and cheesecake in the summer. Anyway, as expected of the Peninsula, the staff’s service was so polite, I felt embarrassed (lol). It’s a small shop in the basement, but the hospitality is like a luxury hotel! I want to eat in next time. Oh, can you take this glass container home even if you eat in? (lol) I’d love to have a set of four (lol). It’s a product that could easily be in a plastic container, but the fact that they use such a beautiful container makes you want to keep it. That’s the Peninsula for you ♡
The Peninsula's cafe is located on the B1 floor of the New Marunouchi Building, directly connected to Tokyo Station and Marunouchi Station. You can enjoy their sweets here without having to go all the way to the Peninsula. Although, it's right next door to the Peninsula. It's located in the underground area where shops line up, so even though it's called the Peninsula Cafe, it doesn't have a particularly fancy atmosphere. It's casual. But you can get cake and they seem to have afternoon tea-like options too. I'm not sure if they still offer it though. I happened to be passing by that day, so I stopped in to buy some baked goods. Across the way is a store that sells a lot of honey, which is one of my favorites, so just being near this place gets me excited. I'm sure you all feel the same way. By the way, they have cakes, chocolates, and baked goods. They also sell the famous Peninsula mango pudding, of course. I bought the car-shaped cookies, which I hadn't tried before. They come in a pack of about 10 and cost 1400 yen. I like that Peninsula cookies are relatively hard and have a nice crunch. They have a good walnut and butter flavor. Although, they're not actually made by the Peninsula. I definitely need to try their eat-in options sometime.
Stepping away from the bustling Tokyo Station underground, you're greeted by a serene atmosphere, separated only by a pane of glass. The cakes offered are simply divine, prompting me to purchase some to take home. If you're a fan of strong coffee, I highly recommend this place!
This is The Peninsula Boutique & Cafe, Shinmaru Building, located in the The Peninsula Tokyo in Yurakucho. As the name suggests, it's situated in the basement of the Shinmaru Building, right by Tokyo Station. While the boutique and cafe in the hotel basement are currently operating as a boutique only, with the cafe closed, the Shinmaru Building branch offers both. You can enjoy cake sets and other treats there. I visited on a weekday evening and found a table readily available. I ordered the Mango Pudding and Special Oolong Tea. The Mango Pudding is a signature dessert at The Peninsula Tokyo. It features Alphonso mangoes, mango puree, and mango pudding. The Alphonso mangoes are soft and melt-in-your-mouth, with a strong sweetness. The mango puree also uses Alphonso mangoes, creating a rich and sweet sauce. There's a layer of sweet whipped cream, followed by the mango pudding, which has a smooth and jiggly texture with a strong mango sweetness. The Special Oolong Tea is served in a pot with tea leaves inside. Initially, it has a refreshing and clean taste. As time passes, the tea develops a more robust flavor with a hint of bitterness. You can request hot water refills, allowing you to enjoy a generous amount of tea.
