Located in Shinjuku Sanchome, Shinjuku Ward, this establishment was founded in 1967. The name of the shop is said to come from the fact that customers can read newspapers inside. The interior is dimly lit with mellow music playing, but the seating is close together. As the entire shop is a smoking area, cigarette smoke will come directly to you. Therefore, it is not recommended for those who are sensitive to smoke. I ordered a ham and egg toast and a cola float. The ham and egg toast was more substantial than I expected, and the accompanying potato salad was delicious. I usually order a cream soda, but I decided to try something different this time. I love both cola and ice cream, so this is a satisfying menu for me. As it is one of the few remaining shops where smoking is allowed, it is quite crowded, and you may have to wait outside. Whether you can get a seat right away depends on your luck. As a long-established coffee shop that represents Shinjuku, I highly recommend visiting it when you come to Shinjuku.

I ordered Napolitan for lunch! The simple Napolitan was delicious! It was even better with a generous dose of Tabasco and Parmesan cheese! Smoking areas are important, right? I'm a non-smoker. It's a classic Japanese coffee shop, so... haha!

The retro atmosphere is charming. The Napolitan is not particularly good. In an era where you can get fresh pasta at convenience stores, it's expensive and the taste hasn't progressed. It's a bit outdated to allow smoking, and the low-class clientele reflects that.

This is a classic Japanese coffee shop located near the southeast exit of Shinjuku Station. In the Shinjuku area, known for its abundance of charming coffee shops, this one stands out with its strong retro Showa era vibe. It's definitely a place I'd recommend for those who appreciate the Showa aesthetic. My first visit was for their morning set. I was tempted to order the classic Napolitan, but it's important to note that they don't offer full-fledged food options during morning hours. I'm looking forward to returning for lunch to try their Napolitan.

This is an old-fashioned cafe. The atmosphere of the ceiling, walls, tables, chairs, and lighting is wonderful. The morning bread was a bit harder than crispy, more like a crunchy texture, and it was delicious. The coffee was also a flavor I liked, and I was able to enjoy a luxurious morning. Since it's a smoking cafe, I thought there would be a lot of regulars, but as expected of a popular spot, people of all ages, tastes, and nationalities were enjoying their time. I'll definitely visit again! Thank you for the meal! I'm very grateful!
