After dropping off my eldest daughter at the university building on September 28, 2024, I went to **Men-Sho San Francisco**. This stylish ramen shop is located on the 7th floor of the restaurant area in Shinjuku MyLord. You purchase a ticket before being seated, as indicated by a sign. I was in a panic because I only had new 1,000 yen and 10,000 yen bills, but when I told the staff, they said I could pay with PayPay, so I did. I remember the green ramen, but since it was my first time, I ordered the "White Truffle Scented Wagyu Roast Beef Chicken White Soup Ramen." The noodles were thin, and the soup was rich and incredibly smooth! The smooth soup and thin noodles were a perfect match. It was exactly my taste. The roast beef and fried burdock root were delicious, and the bamboo shoots were thick and flavorful. The double onion of scallions and spring onions added a nice accent. My eldest daughter loves roast beef, and she would definitely love this soup too, so next time I'll wait for her at a cafe after dropping her off at the university building and we'll come here for lunch together. Next time, I might try the Matcha Chicken White Soup Ramen. MENSHO SAN FRANCISCO offers a unique ramen experience that challenges conventional expectations. The interior is simple yet stylish, with a focus on counter seating, blending American style with Japanese ramen culture. The broth is rich and flavorful, capturing the essence of its carefully selected ingredients, while the noodles have a perfect texture. The variety of toppings is particularly impressive, each one meticulously prepared, adding to the overall culinary experience. Bold and innovative, yet grounded in deep flavors, this is a must-visit spot for any ramen enthusiast.
A5 Wagyu with Matcha Chicken White Soup Ramen - ¥1450 Chicken White Soup Ramen with A5 Wagyu and Truffle Aroma - ¥1150 Heartland Beer - ¥700 The matcha-colored soup is quite impactful. I was a bit hesitant at first, but the salty matcha flavor actually goes well with the ramen broth. I've eaten over 1000 bowls of ramen, but this was my first time trying matcha. The soup was so delicious, I drank every last drop. The Wagyu is served raw, and the way it melts adds a touch of luxury. The chicken white soup is rich and definitely delicious. I couldn't taste the truffle, but it's a safe bet to say this is a signature dish. The interior is stylish, not what you'd expect from a ramen shop, and there were many women and foreigners. Personally, I recommend the matcha ramen for its Instagram-worthy appeal.
The stylish interior doesn't scream 'ramen shop,' which is a pleasant surprise. Prices are moderate, around ¥1200-1500 per dish. Considering the location, it's understandable. The focus is on dan dan noodles and white broth ramen, topped with carefully selected ingredients like beef. They're delicious. This place truly showcases the depth and versatility of ramen as a cuisine.
I had lunch at "Mensho San Francisco," a stylish ramen shop that has been selected for the Michelin Guide USA for two years in a row. It's popular with women. I ordered the "White Truffle Scented A5 Wagyu Chicken White Soup Ramen" for ¥1150. The soup was incredibly creamy and rich, like a potage. The white truffle aroma was strong, giving it an unfamiliar flavor, but it was delicious. The soup was quite sweet. The roasted wagyu beef and burdock chips added an exotic touch. The noodles were square-cut, thin noodles that went well with the soup, reminding me of the rich flavor of Tenka Ippin. It was a delicious meal!
