[Review 1] ⭐️ If you want ramen, meat, and rice, this is definitely the place. ⭐️ ◉ Overview I discovered a restaurant that satisfies all three needs when I'm extremely hungry and craving meat, noodles, and rice. To my surprise, this place has an amazing 3.65 rating on Tabelog, making it highly acclaimed even in Shibuya, a ramen battleground. I'll review the taste in detail below, but not only was the food great, the customer service was also excellent. Overall, I have a very high opinion of this place. This time, I ordered ramen, but I was really torn between that and tsukemen, so I'd love to come back and try the tsukemen next time...! Thank you for the meal! ◉ What I Ordered [Pai-Ko Tantanmen] Since it was my first visit, I ordered the classic Pai-Ko (pork chop) Tantanmen. After ordering from the ticket machine and handing the ticket to the staff, I was asked, "Would you like rice?" Surprisingly, rice is offered for free. Of course, I said YES because I eat a lot. I think this is a very welcome service for men. As for the Tantanmen itself: The exquisite Tantan soup is rich but not heavy, The noodles are thin with a good amount of chewiness and are very delicious, The Pai-Ko (pork chop) is crispy and juicy, It was a complete victory. Here's how I like to enjoy it: I put about 3 pieces of Pai-Ko (pork chop) on the free rice and pour some soup over it to make a Pai-Ko (pork chop) rice bowl. This doubles the enjoyment, so I recommend it. (Meat x rice is the best, after all) I'll go again! I visited around 6 PM on a Monday night. I got in without waiting! The restaurant has only a counter with about 15 seats. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by the wonderful aroma of the broth and sesame! I ordered the most popular Paikou Tantanmen. The Paikou, which filled the bowl, was impressive! The crispy batter gradually absorbed the soup, changing the flavor, which was great. The noodles were medium-thin and not very curly. They mixed well with the soup and were incredibly delicious! The spiciness was less than I expected. I'm not good with overly spicy food, so I was happy about that. The restaurant uses a ticket machine system and only accepts cash. They also provide paper aprons and hair ties.
Sakurazaka Ura-roji has a stylish atmosphere from the entrance, with a cozy interior featuring only a counter. The shop seems to specialize in pa-ko noodles, but the basic tantanmen has a rich soy sauce base and medium-thick straight noodles that offer a great flavor. Though the connection is unclear, it felt like a branch of Hashigo. The spice level was just right, and it paired perfectly with the hot char siu, resulting in a high level of completion. The young staff provided efficient and pleasant service; I was particularly impressed with how quickly the food was served, within about five minutes of sitting down. The shio ramen was simple yet had a well-defined broth, and it went well with the thin noodles, making it easy to eat. It also went perfectly with pepper. This is a place where I want to try other menu items, and although it's in a competitive area, I hope they continue.
Located just up the hill from the newly opened Sakura Stage in Shibuya. This restaurant carries on the flavor of the now-defunct Ajuka, a famous establishment known for its pork chop dan dan noodles. I ordered the pork chop dan dan noodles with a menma topping. It's similar to Ginza's Hashigo, but I think this place has a stronger sesame flavor. The pork chop, which is like a fried pork cutlet, was surprisingly substantial and delicious. Rice was free during lunchtime, but I passed on it… However, with this soup, it would have been incredibly delicious to put some of the pork chop on top and pour the soup over it… I'll definitely try that next time.
